Cee’s Black and White Challenge: 50 Years or Older

When a train goes through a tunnel and it gets dark, you don’t throw away the ticket and jump off! You sit still and TRUST the engineer – Corrie Ten Boom

Pics of 100+ year old railroad spikes from a local train track that is now transformed into a bike/walking trail 🙂 Love taking walks on this trail! It’s fun to think about the train that once was blazing by the trees along this trail…that I so often tread.

Researched a bit and I learned that blacksmiths mold these spikes into knives and sell them on Etsy or eBay.  Interesting art form 🙂  Here is a 3 minute video showing just how much pounding it takes (pretty sure it takes MUCH longer…I like how each step is labeled and at the end you see pics of the different knife blade styles available – scroll to the end if you want – quite pretty).
